In the midst of an unscheduled outage, a south
western power producer turned to TRU for an emergency overhaul of their
GE Frame 7EA row one nozzle assembly. The complete overhaul was accomplished
in less than 4 calendar days and returned to service. The nozzle
exhibited structural cracking and extensive craze cracking at the airfoil
pressure sides and along the fillets. The overhaul was performed around
the clock and thru the weekend. Nozzle workscope included inspection,
disassembly, cover removal and replacement, weld repairs to all cracking,
blending full solution and final age heat treatment in vacuum and reassembly.

During a scheduled outage, a south eastern utility
contracted TRU to perform extensive repairs to their Westinghouse 501B
unit. Repaired components included Compressor Diaphragms, Combustion Baskets,
Clam Shells, Transition Pieces and rows 1 thru 4 turbine blade lockplates.
The compressor diaphragms were repaired and coated with the TRU seal 2000
coating system. TRU seal 2000 coating produces a smooth surface to compressor
airfoils enhancing airflow thru the compressor section, while providing
excellent sacrificial corrosion resistance and increasing waterwash efficiency.
All components were returned to service ahead of schedule.

TRU recently completed two modified Hot Gas Path
inspections for North eastern independent power producers. The workscopes
accomplished to the GE Frame 6 gas turbines included Unit disassembly, IGV
bushing replacement, compressor cleaning and NDE, inner barrel replacement,
combustion hardware replacement of Transition pieces, combustion liners,
flow sleeve and associated hardware. In the midst of one of the outages,
a fit up problem was discovered on the replacement row one nozzle. The nozzle
had been repaired previously by another repair vendor. The problem involved
an interference fit to the row one support ring disallowing installation.
The TRU field service team completely disassembled the nozzle assembly on-site
and corrected the fit up problem facilitating installation within 16
hours of discovery. The job completion schedules for both units were
not only met but were shortened in both cases.
